Hello! My name is Kristin. I have lived in Utah for my entire life. I grew up on a small farm and we had several dogs over the years. I love dogs! My father also loved dogs. He did not believe in pure breeds. He believed that pure breeds were overrated and that so many of them had been inbred that they did not make good 'family dogs'. He told me that purebreds were not as healthy as mixed breeds or 'Hybrid breeds'. So basically-----we had many mixes of different dog breeds as pets growing up. We rescued and adopted dogs and puppies. We had collies, retrievers, terriers, poodles, etc (just to name a few).
Skip ahead several years......, after my first son was born, we noticed that he was allergic to dogs. We had an older jack russell terrier at the time. We soon welcomed our second son into this world. He too developed allergies and asthma. By then, we had purchased a chocolate goldendoodle named "Mocha". The doctor ordered them both out of the house because of our boys allergies and asthma. Some time later, our terriers health was failing and she was aging quickly. She was not the happy crazy girl that she had always been. We made the toughest decision ever and that was to not make her suffer any longer. We had her put her to sleep:-( Eventually, my sons were around our goldendoodle more and more. We soon realized that they were not allergic to her, they had been allergic to the jack russell. So of course our Mocha was allowed back into our home with us. We haven't been without our goldendoodles and poodles surrounding us since. We have a happy and healthy family pack. The dynamics of a happy and healthy pack is indescribable!
Our puppies are born in our home and remain here until they get introduced to great outdoors (normally around 4-5 weeks old). We all love on them daily. We introduce the early puppy stimulation theory immediately after birth and continue it until the puppies go to their forever homes. Dew claws are taken out at two days old and deworming begins at 2 weeks of age. Our puppies have been thoroughly dewormed before they go to their new homes. They also receive a full vet clearance and the first round of vaccinations. Our awesome vet, Dr. Ryan, carefully inspects each one of our puppies starting at 2 days old.. He later looks at their eyes, teeth, ears and body. He checks their skeletal and muscular systems. He also listens to their hearts. Every puppy is inspected from head to toe. A bill of health is issued for every one of our pups. At 7 weeks old, a trained dog behaviorist (a complete stranger to our puppies) comes to our home and administers the 'Volhard Puppy Aptitude/Temperament Test' to every puppy. Our puppies are tested and then scored. The scores are sent home with every puppy (please let us know if you would like a copy of the actual test). Our puppies continue to receive much needed human interaction as well as pack (older dog) interaction until the day they go to their forever homes.
Whew---and that is our story!
Our goal is to help make this as pleasant of an experience as possible. For our puppies and for you. Goldendoodles will forever be our choice in dogs! We love them!
